Wilmon Edward Brannen

January 5, 1940 — October 25, 2022

Wilmon Edward “Wil” Brannen, 82, of Cleveland, TN went home to be with his Lord on October 25, 2022 while surrounded by family in his home.   Wil was born on January 5, 1940, in Lacoochee, Fl to Louis Alton Brannen and Bonnie Jones Brannen.  He attended First Christian Church in Cleveland, TN where he was an Elder and Sunday School Teacher.  Wil became a licensed minister in the Disciples of Christ Christian Church in 2004, Corpus Christi, TX.  He was faithful to the Lord his whole life. 

Wil served in the U.S. Coast Guard entering after high school graduation 1957-1961 stationed in Corpus Christi, TX He then served 2 years in the reserves.

Wil was a building manager in Corpus Christi TX for many years retiring from the 600 Building in 2009 moving to Cleveland to be near his immediate family in 2010.  Wil believed that “Singing is Life the rest is just details” whether it was in church, with family, The Roaring 50’s group that he directed when singing for the nursing home community or with his Barbershop Chorus, “The Sound of Tennessee”.  He received his 50th year pin this summer at the International BSH convention in Charlotte, NC.   Wil was a beloved member of all these organizations.

He is preceded in death by his father, Louis Alton Brannen; brothers Fred Alton Brannen and Lowell Archie Brannen.

 He is survived by his mother, Bonnie J. Brannen, Signature Health Care;  loving wife,  Melody Brannen;  sisters,  Bonita Landrum (Michael) and Donice Brown (Raymond) of Cleveland TN;  former wife Anne, Ft. Wort; and  their children Ben Brannen (Claudia) Lewisville, TX, Sean Brannen (Janiel) Corpus Christi, TX, Elizabeth Rivas (Rolando) Gastonia, NC and Heather Hamilton (Scott)  Ft. Worth, TX.   He leaves behind nine grandchildren, Julianna Rivas, Sister Juana Maria (Rivas), Casey Rivero, Noah Rivas, Eily Brannen, Zachary Rivero, Isabel Rivero, Olivia Rivas, and Joseph Rivas; many nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be Saturday, October 29, 2022, at First Christian Church, 3925 N. Ocoee Street, from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.   Funeral to follow at 1:00 pm at the church.   

Interment will be Monday, October 31, 2022 at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN at 1:00 p.m.
